Institute of Archaeology Library Summer Relocation

From Monday 2nd July to Wednesday 15th August, the UCL Institute of Archaeology Library will be relocating while extensive rewiring work is taking place in the library space.
For the duration of the works,
we will be running a reduced service from seminar rooms on the 4th
floor of the Institute of Archaeology building. There will be seating available
for study, catalogues and staff available at all times to answer queries.
Opening hours will be as normal. Books will be made available on request
through a fetching service, which will operate twice a day and can be issued
and returned as usual. They can be ordered in advance through:

We will provide regular updates on services during the building works, so please check these pages for further information during our relocation.
We apologise in advance for the inconvenience caused and we are working to

- What will the opening hours be?
We will be open as usual:
- Monday – Friday: 9.30am to 9.00pm.
- Saturday: 11.00am to 6.00pm.
- Where will the relocated library be?
We will be in seminar rooms 410 and 412. A member of library staff will be available to answer enquiries and issue/return books in each seminar rooms. Staff not on duty in the reading rooms will be available in an office on the same floor. Posters on the ground floor and 4th floor will show you where to go.

- Will library catalogues be available?
Yes, we will have a library catalogue in each room.
- Can I borrow and return books?
Yes, we will fetch books for you that are ordered in advance and you can return items for you.
- When can I pick up books that have been fetched for me?
We will do a fetching service twice a day morning and afternoon. We are currently negotiating with the contractors about the best times to do this. Unfortunately the 5th floor library will be a building site and we only have permission to enter the space escorted twice a day, so we will not be able to fetch books for you other than at the advertised times.
