Workshop: 'Intercultural communication for tourism professionals'

This workshop offered tourism professionals the opportunity to gain a further understanding of  the interplay between language, communication and culture in the context of tourism. The event was supported by The Academy Hotel, The Montague on the Gardens Hotel, YHA and the UCL Grand Challenge of Intercultural Interaction.

Round Table: 'Communication in London's tourism industry'

21 September 2012: 10.00 - 1.00

This round table focussed on communication practices within London’s tourism industry. This gathering allowed to share ideas concerning communication in London’s tourism industry and to explore the extent to which current communication practices may be further supported/ improved (e.g. training-related issues). A wide range of professional and academic experience and knowledge was pooled together.

Guest speakers:

  • Mr Federico Ciampi, Hotel manager The Academy Hotel, London
  • Dr Jo Angouri, Senior Lecturer in Intercultural Communication and Linguistics at the University of the West of England, Bristol
