Biography

'Partner and representative' of Archibald Edmonstone & Co. (q.v.).

  1. Probably the son of Archibald Lapslie and Jean Edmonstone (1759-1821), and cousin of Archibald (d. 1837) and Robert Edmonstone (d. 1834), the sons of Archibald Edmonstone of Spittal (1754-1821) and nephews of Charles Edmonstone (1757-1827). 

  2. Resident in British Guiana. 'I, the undersigned, Acting Provost Marshal of British Guiana, in the name and behalf of Harriet Margaret Lapslie, an inhabitant of the county of Demerary, as sole executrix to the last will and testament of Archibald Lapslie, deceased, in his lifetime, and up to the time of his death, also an inhabitant of said county, do hereby, by edict, eite all known and unknown creditors, as well European as colonial, of the said Archibald Lapslie, deceased, to appear before the Honourable the Supreme Court of Civil Justice of British Guiana, at the Registrar's-office for the counties of Demerary and Essequebo, in the Public-buildings, in the city of George-town, in the colony aforesaid, and there file their claims, properly substantiated and in due form, within the period of one month after the third and last publication of this edict, or within one month after the notice by me the undersigned, Acting Provost Marshal, in the Official Gazette of the colony, of the publication of this edict in the London Gazette, on pain in default thereof as the law directs.
