Biography

Son of James Duff of Gordon, Duff & Co, Madeira. The award of slave compensation appears to have been the recovery of a trade debt secured by a court judgement.

  1. The Pedigree Register Sept. 1913: 08/02/1800 James Gordon Duff, son of James Duff merchant of Finsbury Square enrolls at St Paul's. James Duff of Gordon, Duff & Co. Madeira died 01/04/1812 at Banff. James Gordon Duff died 01/08/1845 aged 57.

  2. James Gordon Duff shown as of 112 Bishopsgate in 1845 and late of 138 Leadenhall Street in 1850 in lists of shareholders of the National Provincial Bank of England

  3. Married Emma Jones St George Bloomsbury 09/12/1829.
