Claimant or beneficiary

Biography

Awarded part of the compensation for the Tryall estate in Hanover Jamaica, as one of ten claimants whose ownership appears to have descended from Francis Acres (1700-1770) of Hanover.

A genealogical source suggests that Francis Acres Hyde's paternal grandmother Katherine Acres was born in Hanover Jamaica in 1730; her son by her husband John (d. 1776) was John Hyde of Lexham Hall, Norfolk and then of Montagu Square (1753-1835), whose will proved 18/05/1835 confirms Francis Acres Hyde as his son. A co-claimant, the Rev. George Sandby (q.v.), was the son of Mary Acres (the sister of Katherine Acres: both were daughters of Francis Acres).

  1. 1st son of John Hyde of Catton, Norfolk arm. Matric. Christ Church 22/04/1819 aged 18; BA 1824.

  2. Cornet in 12th (Prince of Wales') Regiment of Lancers 17 November 1825.
