Claimant or beneficiary

Biography

Claimed for the compensation for the Endragt and Mon Repos estates in British Guiana, but received a fraction of the interest on the compensation, the principal and almost all of the interest of which went to the London merchants Hall M'Garel (q.v.).

  1. Son of Joseph Hamer (1745-1803) and brother of Michael Greatheed Hamer (q.v.) and Henry Percy Hamer. Born Gloucestershire 1766. Died en route from British Guiana to England 1846. Vere Langford Oliver shows him as Wm Atwick Hamer of Demerara, Esq., dead 1856, having married Anna Lloyd (d. Cheltenham 17/01/1856), in the family tree of 'Dyer of Montserrat' and as the son of Joseph Hamer and Mary (maiden name unknown) who married Mark Dyer (whether first or secondly is unclear).

  2. William Attwick Hamer's will identified him as of Cheltenham Gloucs; that of his wife Anna (proved London 05/02/1856) shows her at Lansdown Cresecent, Cheltenham.
