William Luther Sewell, third son of Sir Thomas Sewell and Catherine Heath, bequeathed an interest in Hordley Estate, Jamaica, by his nephew Matthew Gregory Lewis (q.v.).
Baptised 15/12/1748 at All Hallows by the Tower, London. Parents Thomas Sewell and Catherine Heath of Serjeants Inn in Fleetstreet. Sir Thomas was MP for Harwich 1758-1761 and Winchelsea 1761-1768 and Master of the Rolls 1764-1784. Catherine Heath's father Thomas Heath of Stansted Mountfitchet had himself been MP for Harwich in 1714.
He inherited an interest in Hordley Estate from his nephew Matthew Gregory Lewis. His claim to the compensation was contested by his niece Frances Maria Lushington (q.v.).
