Biography

Partner until 1836 with his cousin Philip Protheroe (q.v.). Son of Joseph Protheroe of Newton and Dinaston Loveston.

  1. Married Sarah Hungerford Powell (born Dominica) 26/10/1809 Bristol. Daughter Lucy Hungerford Protheroe baptised in Bristol in 1813. Sheriff of Bristol in 1830 (when the Mayor was John Savage (q.v.) and the other sheriff was William Claxton (q.v.)). At Norton, Tenby, in the censuses of 1841 and 1851; his widow was in the same place in 1861. Will of George Protheroe of Tenby Pembrokeshire proved 19/06/1860, effects under £600.
