Biography

Samuel Trehawke Kekewich (also given as Kekewick), trustee of marriage settlement of William James D'Urban and Mary Elizabeth Stewart Mitchell.

  1. Son of Samuel Kekewich of Bowdon Devon. Matriculated Christ Church Oxford 27/10/1814 aged 17. MP for Exeter August 1826-1830, South Devonshire 1858-death 01/06/1873. Sheriff 1834. See Eton School Lists.

  2. Samuel Trehawke Kekewick married Agatha Langston, probably daughter of the banker John Langston (d. 1812) of Langston, Towgood & Amory.

  3. In 1851 Samuel Trehawke Kekewich was living at Peamore, born Bowden Devon, with (second) wife Louisa and children Agatha, Elizabeth, Julia, George, Emma and Louisa. Death registered Q3 1873 St Thomas Devonshire. Will of Samuel Trehawke Keekwich who died 01/06/1873 proved at Exeter 05/09/1873 by widow Louisa Kekewich of Peamore, effects under £25,000.

  4. The Peamore estate passed to his eldest son Trehawke Kekewich (1823-1909). His son from his second marriage was Sir George Kekewich (1841-1921), secretary to the education department and Conservative MP for Exeter, 1906-10.
