  1. Notice in the London Gazette: "Appeal for persons entitled to estate of Michael Jackson of Jersey, William Jackson his brother, or Eleanor Forsyth his niece, who married George Forsyth on 17/08/1830 and  was one of the children of David Forsyth.  She is believed to have been born in St Petersburg and for some time to have lived in Leadenhall Steet and to have died there." Birth of Eleanor Forsyth St Petersburg, Russia, 27/06/1805, baptised  at the British Chaplaincy, St Petersburg, 20/07/1805, father David Forsyth, mother Ann. Marriage in Aberdeen 17/08/1830: "By the Revd Bishop Skinner were lawfully married in St Andrew's Chapel Aberdeen after due Proclamation of Banns George Forsyth Esquire Merchant in London at present residing in Aberdeen & Mifs Eleanor Forsyth in Aberdeen daughter of David Forsyth Esquire in Aberdeen in presence of a Competant No of Witnefses." At the time of their marriage, they already had a two month old daughter Catherine, born 27/06/1830, baptised 16/03/1832 at St Peter's, Cornhill, London. Son George Dunbar Forsyth born 19/09/1832 and baptised 20/10/1832 at St Peter's, buried 16/02/1833 age 5 months. Eleanor Forsyth was buried at St Peter's on 06/12/1833 aged 29, presumably having died in childbirth. Her third child, also called Eleanor, an "infant", was buried three days later, 09/12/1833, at St Peter's.

  2. George Forsyth appears in the 1851 census at 145 Leadenhall Street, age 64, merchant, born in Huntley[sic], Aberdeenshire, living with his daughter Cath Forsyth, age 19, born in Dorking, Surrey.

  3. Notice in the Times: George Forsyth late of Leadenhall Street died aged 73 at Torrington Square 1860. George Forsyth's will was proven in 1886 having been left unadministered by his executrix Catherine Robertson, a personal estate of £97 17s 6d.

  4. Likely birth for GF, given that the dates and place match and the mother's maiden name is the same as the middle name of his son: George Forsyth, baptised 28/02/1786 in Huntly, parents Alexander Forsyth and Margaret Dunbar.
