Biography

The wife of Lieut-Col. Thomas Moody (q.v.), with whom she was awarded the compensation for a single enslaved person in British Guiana, and daughter of Richard Clement of Barbados. Their son Richard Clement Moody has an entry in the ODNB as 'army officer and colonial governor.'

  1. Will of Maria Moody widow of St Pancras Middesex proved 24/09/1856. Martha Moody aged 66 born West Indies was living at Bycroft Terrace, St David, Exeter in 1851 with two daughters, Susan aged 39 (also born West Indies) and Clementina aged 29 (born London).
