Biography

London banker, long-time head of the firm that evolved into Sapte, Muspratt and Co. (a predecessor of RBS). He counterclaimed apparently unsuccessfully as surviving partner of Vere & Ward assignees of a mortgage on the Retrieve estate in Demerara. To date no death-date or will has been found for him by LBS.

  1. John Vere was partner in Veres Ward & Co. until 1833 and in its successor firm Vere Sapte until his retirement in 1840.
