Biography

Alexander Gray 'of Lanark, for many years a resident proprietor in Trinidad and a member of the Legislative Council....' There is a wall tablet in St Kentigern's churchyard Lanark to Alexander Gray of Trinidad West Indies born 01/11/1798 and died 20/08/1860. In 1866, on his daughter's marriage, he was given simply as 'gentleman' but by 1867 when his daughter Emily Margaret married Gower Munro Capt. 2nd Battalion 20th Regiment he was shown as deceased.
