Biography

Assignee with Joseph Edlman (q.v.) of D.H. Rucker & Co. (q.v.), which failed in 1831.

  1. City merchant and evidently a wealthy man. In 1851 he was living with his family (his wife, Ann, 4 daughters and a son), and 4 servants - a butler, cook and 2 housemaids, in Dulwich. He was the son of William Borradaile (1750-1831) and Ann Delapierre 1770-1818. On 4 December 1823 he married Ann Stevens Pullen. Their children were: Jane (1826-), Emma (1829-), Grace (1830-), Thomas (1832-), Frances (1835-). All were born, like their father, in the parish of St Gabriel, Fenchurch, London. At some point in the 1840s they moved from St Gabriel, Fenchurch to 7 Park Place, Dulwich, Camberwell, Surrey.

  2. Little is known about him otherwise. He was a director of London Assurance, 1819 (and possibly earlier)-1857 and a steward of the Marine Society, a charity for assisting young men to go to sea.
