Resident of Tobago.

  1. Will of Lewis Francis Desvignes of Island of Tobago proved 20/05/1837. In the will (which has only been partly deciphered) Lewis Francis Desvignes left £300 and the unexpired term of apprenticeship of several named formerly enslaved people (Diana, Fanny, John and Charles) to his son Henry on the latter reaching the age of 21 (in 1840); he also requested that a formerly enslaved person named Thomas be freed from apprenticeship, and left £100 to 'my apprentice' George Fielding Irvine [?]. He left the residue of his estate to his god-dau[ghter] Lucy Frances Lawrence daughter of 'my friend' John Hendrickson Lawrence (q.v.).
