Biography

  1. Son of William Forsyth (1721-) and Jean Phynn. Born 27/01/1771; minister to the church at Mortlach; married Isabella daughter of James Donaldson of Kinairdie.

  2. The Rev. Morris Forsyth, Minister of the Gospel at Mortlach, died at Huntly in the 67th year of his age and the 33d year of his ministry in 1838.

  3. Co-executor with (and possibly uncle of) George Forsyth (q.v.) of James Forsyth, late of Landowne Place St Pancras. In the will of James Forsyth proved 02/08/1825 he identified Rev. Morris Forsyth as his brother, together with Alexander Forsyth of Huntly: he also identified George Forsyth lately of St Petersburg but now of London as his cousin, although the George Forsyth of the compensation records was probably the son of Alexander, and hence the nephew of James Forsyth and Morris Forsyth.

  4. In the will of the Rev. Morris Forsyth Minister of Mortlach, Banffshire proved 23/06/1838, he nominated his wife Isabella Donaldson and his brother Alexander Forsyth 'residing in Huntly' as two of his four executors.
