Biography

Local Barbados partner in a Liverpool merchant firm, John Heyes and Son, with Howard and John Bovell until 1826, although in London to sign at the National Debt Office for several awards.

  1. Apparently from another branch of the family of the brothers John Bovell, John Roache and Michael Nihell (each of whom q.v.) and probably the William Bovell who in 1851, 'proprietor of houses' born Barbados aged 56, was living with wife Elizabeth aged 40 and a daughter aged 12 born Devon at North Hill Place. Death of William Bovell registered Q2 1851 at Plymouth Devon. In his will, of Plymouth Devon proved 19/06/1851 he left a small legacy (£50) to his niece, 'daughter of my brother John residing in the Island of Barbados.' Another William Bovell, the son of John Bovell and brother of James Bovell, was residing in Barbados in 1859.

  2. William Bovell of North Hill Place, Plymouth, age 55, was buried in Ford Park Cemetery, Plymouth, 16/05/1851.
