Biography

Awarded the compensation for the enslaved people on Plantain Garden River in St Thomas-in-the-East (part of the award shared with Colthurst Bateman (q.v.)) and for the enslaved people on Enfield estate in St Thomas-in-the-Vale.  

  1. The marriage settlement of William Hervey of Bodwell Hall Carnavon and Lady Dorothea Arabella Primrose dated 28/8/1801 ties together Thomas Hervey (deceased) and Elizabeth Hervey as the parents of William Hervey with Bradwell Grove, and with the Enfield and Plantain Garden River estates in Jamaica, which William inherited from his mother.

  2. Baptism of William Hervey, son of Thomas (Esq.) and Elizabeth Hervey, at St Marylebone 07/02/1777. Will of William Hervey of Bradwell Grove who died 05/05/1863 proved 13/06/1863, effects under £30,000. The executors included the Earl of Effingham.
