Biography

According to an email from Jean Mackenzie of 9 Nov 2010:

Donald Dingwall is the brother of John Dingwall (q.v., ID 22987) of Kingston claim 832, the brothers having left the town of Dingwall in Ross & Cromarty around 1799. They became overseers and later slave-owners in Jamaica, mainly in Vere and Clarendon. Mackenzie says Jamaica Almanacs of the period corroborate this. A third brother, Roderick Dingwall, was an overseer on the Coley estate in St Thomas-in-the-East, owned by William Davidson of Tulloch, though Roderick seems never to have owned enslaved persons himself.
