Barbara Nibbs the elder

???? - 1813

Biography

Widow of James Langford Nibbs senior (q.v.) and mother of Barbara Nibbs the younger and Rev. George Nibbs.

  1. Will of Barbara Nibbs, widow of Bath [made in 1808] proved 09/09/1813. At two points in her relatively short will she refers to a marble monument to her husband James Langford Nibbs senior at Washfield that she had promised him to build: she set aside £50 to do so. After personal effects, she left half the money she had or was due from her husband's estate or arrears of jointure to her daughter Barbara and half between her surviving sons James Langford (whom her husband had disinherited) and Rev. George Nibbs, and half what she was due from the estate of her son Samuel Nibbs to James Langford Nibbs and half to her daughter-in-law, the wife of Rev. George Nibbs.
