James Athill Chief Justice of Antigua

1759 - 1822


Biography

Son of Hon. James Athill and brother of Samuel Byam Athill. 'Died a bachelor' although he had three natural children (John Samuel and George Athill): under his will, his estate of 'Byam's' was to be sold and the proceeds divided among the children of his deceased brother John Athill (1766-1802). Vere Langford Oliver says that his will 'leaves legacies to certain mulattos.'
