Thomas Norbury Kerby

Biography

Resident slave-owner and President of the Council of Antigua. The administrator of Thomas Norbury Kerby claimed the compensation for the Parry's and Weir's estates on Antigua.

  1. Thomas Norbury Kerby, son of Hamilton of the Island of Antigua, matriculated Trinity College Oxford 10/07/1776 aged 18.

  2. Will of Thomas Norbury Kerby of the Island of Antigua proved 29/08/1822. He left £10,000 to his daughter Ann Byam Kerby (q.v., under Ann Byam Stapleton) secured on his two sugar plantations, 'slaves, stock live and dead and all things appertaining thereto.' He charged £6000 on Parry's and £4000 on Weir's, explaining that he considered the former more valuable. He left the remainder of his estate to his wife Jane Kerby (q.v.). The will (made in July 1810) states that both his wife and young daughter were in England.
