Biography

Counterclaimant, apparently unsuccessful, 'of 31 Fenchurch St London, Gent., acting executor of James Weston, lien on title deeds of enslaved persons' for the enslaved people on Mt Pleasant in Antigua and counterclaiming with John Teesdale, presumably in the same capacity for Orange Valley on Tobago and for Webbs on Montserrat. All three of these estates belonged to the Willock family, and in 1808 Francis Willock and his oldest son Frank Gore Willock entered into an indenture with James Weston of Fenchurch Street [probably the elder] to bar the entail.

  1. The James Weston on whose behalf the James Weston of this entry acted was his father, and the same man as the James Weston Gentleman of Fenchurch Street whose will was proved 17/02/1823. The deceased James Weston was an attorney, a partner with his brother Ambrose Weston, and while he was possibly a creditor, this was not stated in the indenture and his will is silent on any West India property, so that it might be that the lien he held was as attorney for others.
