Claimant or beneficiary

Counterclaimant, apparently unsuccessful, 'of 31 Fenchurch St London, Gent., acting executor of James Weston, lien on title deeds of enslaved persons' for the enslaved people on Mt Pleasant in Antigua and counterclaiming with John Teesdale, presumably in the same capacity for Orange Valley on Tobago and for Webbs on Montserrat. All three of these estates belonged to the Willock family, and in 1808 Francis Willock and his oldest son Frank Gore Willock entered into an indenture with James Weston of Fenchurch Street to bar the entail. Weston was presumably a creditor, but that was not stated in the indenture and the will below is silent on any West India property.

  1. The James Weston on whose behalf this James Weston acted was presumably his father or uncle and the same man as the James Weston Gentleman of Fenchurch Street whose will was proved 17/02/1823.
