Biography

Eliz. Brasnell appears as an unsuccessful claimant for the compensation for Mt St George estate and is almost certainly the same as Elizabeth Brasnell widow who claimed successfully under a much smaller claim elsewhere in Tobago. In 1810 she was identified as an annuitant on an estate named Rockley Vale.

  1. Widow of William Brasnell (q.v.) 'residing at Sans Souci, Tobago' whose will was proved 17/11/1829. William Brasnell had been a trustee of the will of John Robley (q.v.).

  2. Elizabeth Buchanan married William Brasnell of the Island of Tobago at St Giles Camberwell (her parish) 20/08/1811. Elizabeth Buchanan was a widow, with a son from her earlier marriage, George Alexander Buchanan.

  3. Lucy Campbell Brasnell daughter of William ('merchant') and Elizabeth Brasnell of Sandford Place was baptised at St John Hackney 31/05/1818.

  4. The will of Elizabeth Brasnell of Egyptian House, Jersey who died 18/04/1860 was proved 16/07/1860, effects under £3000. Her daughter and executor Emma Georgiana Brasnell was born in Tobago c 1827.

  5. The compensation for Sans Souci was paid to Margaret Wilson as executrix of Elizabeth Campbell.
