Notes

Berbice - not yet traced in the slave compensation records but conceivably British Guiana no. 47, for which David Melville was awarded the compensation, and possibly given there as 'Freidwyk', for which David Melville was also awarded the compensation for a smaller group of enslaved people. Although the name in the Slave Registers appears consistently to be 'Luidwijk' or 'Luidwyk' this must be Zuidwijk, the name of a town in the Netherlands.
