In his will made in 1808 and proved in 1810 John Jackson of Fulham referred to his claims over the Courland estate in Tobago.

The original purchaser of Courland Bay division (St David Parish) Lot no.1, which became Courland, was James Simpson on 20/05/1765.The present proprietors c. 1773 were J. Simpson and G. Francklyn. The owners in 1832 were 'Rep G & J Petrie', and the estate was still in cultivation in 1862. The present possessor c. 1867 was Daniel G. Gordon.

In 1819 the Registration was by Wm McDowall attorney.
