Under indentures of 01/06/1792 and 02/06/1792, Walter Nisbet mortgaged for £6250 to Cornelius Cuyler, a Brigadier General in the British Army, estates on Nevis described as Mount Pleasant or the Mountain (600 acres, of which part was late the estate of Dr Henry Jones, Richard Griffin, Henry Griffin, James Griffin, James Russell Maddan, and William and James Pemberton), Low Ground or New Castle (150 acres, given as 350 acres in the second deed) and Keds [sic] Bay in St Thomas parish (250 acres), together with 450 named enslaved people.
