Caribbeana Vol. III has parts of an indenture of 20/07/1774 between William Gray, Edward Woollery and Duncan Charles Macglashan whereby William Gray sold the estate to Macglashan for £46,647 currency of which he paid some £29,000 upfront. The estate was placed in trust until the balance was paid by a series of bonds. In the event, William Gray sought to accelerate his receipt of funds by borrowing from Jacob Israel Bernal and assigning as security both the bonds due from Duncan Charles Macglashan and William and Dorothy Gray's own The Rhine plantation. The entries in the Accounts Produce - which show Edward Woollery as owner and William Gray as late trustee - do not appear fully consistent with these transactions.
