Claim Notes

Parliamentary Papers p. 122.

Parliamentary Papers shows British Guiana claim no. 716A & B, each of £5029 7s 8d to John Earl Brownlow and Wilbraham Egerton together.

T71/885: claim by Col. The Hon. Sir Edward Cust and the heirs of the late Mrs L. W. Boode.

Cust was awarded £5029 7s 8d, as British Guiana claim no. 716A (pace Parliamentary Papers); John Earl Brownlow and Wilbraham Egerton appear in British Guiana claim no. 716B, awarded as trustees and executors in place of James Dennett (originally awarded 716B). Cust has been listed as a claimant here because of that award.

T71/1610: letter, dated 30/09/1835, from Leasowe [?] Castle, stating: 'Dear Stevenson: how much might I hope to receive? I trust I am not intruding an impertinent  request... I see your Brother in Law at Holtham [?] received one royal duchess with very great splendour'.

T71/431 p. 1164  and p. 1169 (Slave Registers): W. McDonald registered 190 enslaved persons for James Dannett (who was unable to attend) and for the Hon. Sir E. Cust, and the estate of the late Mrs L.W. Boode (deceased).
