Times 02/06/1824 p. 4: description of the messy divorce case of Sir Wastel Briscoe.

Times 13/12/1830 p. 4: description of Davis vs Brisco, in the Court of Common Pleas. Davis was a cornchandler, of Fitzroy Sq; Sir Wastel Briscoe was baronet of a large fortune, living  at Crofton-hall, Cumberland (Cumbria). The suit was to recover a debt of £50 from Lady Brisco, who was living in Albany St., Regent's Park, London, for quantities of beans, oats, etc. 'The defence was that the defendant was not liable, as his wife was living apart from her husband in a state of adultery.' 'This singular cause, the details of which disclosed some very disgusting scenes...'

Times 17/11/1862, p. 16, Issue 24431 Col. B: Messrs. Elgood and Co. were instructed by the executors of a gentleman deceased to sell the lease with possession of Sir Wastel Briscoe's former house at No. 11 Beaumont St., Portland place, auctioned with an estimated annual value of £80, a 26 year lease, and ground rent of £8. Also auctioned in five separate lots were five houses and shops at 5 and 82-85 Manchester Square, let on leases at £40-50, held for about 25 years at ground-rents of £5 and £7.50.
