T71/865: claim from the heirs of Thomas Kaylet [given as Kaylett] (q.v.), of St Andrew. George Joad claimed the balance of a legacy to Jane White, being: a primary charge on the compensation; the purchase money for 41 enslaved persons; and the principal advanced on a mortgage of 45 enslaved persons etc., totalling £9779 17s 8d. Letter from Clayton & sons, stating that the award was made to George Joad by agreement with the claimants and counterclaimants; now Mr Joad's solicitors think it were completed more satisfactorily with award to other counterclaimants.
