A
Visiting Chair in memory of the late Italian Senator Spadolini, pictured right,
was established at the Institute of Global Law to assist
in the teaching of Italian law. It is financed by a number of Italian foundations
and banks, including the Spadolini Foundation in Florence, the Banca d’Italia,
the Compania di San Paolo and others. The Institute and, indeed, the whole
Faculty of Laws express their deep appreciation to Professor Margiotta Broglio
and Professor Avv. Cesare Mirabelli, Emeritus President of the Italian Constitutional
Court, for their indefatigable efforts to create this valuable link between
the two countries.
So far the following eminent Italian jurists
have held the Chair:
Professor Cesare Mirabelli, Former President
to the Italian Constitutional Court Professor Dr Guido Alpa of the University of Rome
Professor Maurizio Lupoi of theUniversity of Genoa
Professor Giovanna Visentini, formerly Dean of the Law Faculty of the University
of Genoa
The next visitor will be Professor Mauro Bussani
of the University of Trieste. More elections are expected to be made from
the academic years 2003 and 2004.
