Profile She previously worked for the European Commission in Brussels and has been acting as a source to the BBC and CNN with regard to EU asylum/refugee issues and developments since 2000. She has also acted as an external consultant for the European Council of Refugees and Exiles and the UNHCR. Research and Publications In 2002 she published Europe and Refugees: Towards an EU Asylum Policy, European Monograph Series, Kluwer Law International (2002), a comprehensive analysis of the development of the EU competence on Asylum. She has presented numerous international papers on the development of the EU Common Asylum System and recently published ‘Confronting a false Dilemma: EU Asylum Policy between “Protection” and “Securitization”’ in O’Cinneide C. and Holder J. Current Legal Problems volume 60 (OUP, 2007). She is also collaborating with the European Council of Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) in reviewing the functioning of the EU Common European Asylum System. One of the first papers of this project (on the reform of the EU Dublin System) will be published in early 2008. Her current research projects include a monograph on the external dimension of EU Asylum policy, an article on new modes of governance in the EU Migration field and an analysis of the impact of EU Immigration initiatives on the development of the EU Citizenship concept.
