Teacher Training

Teaching English for Academic Purposes

A two-week (50 hour) teacher training programme for teachers who want to teach or are already teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP). This course is ideal for teachers who wish to develop their knowledge of the principles that underpin EAP and to develop or further enhance their practical abilities in teaching it.

Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA)

An intensive course leading to the Cambridge ESOL CELTA qualification. The four week full-time course is suitable for people who are interested in learning to teach and wish to gain an initial teaching qualification that is recognised world wide. It is suitable for candidates who have some English Language teaching experience but no initial qualification, as well as for people with little or no previous teaching experience.

Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA)

The Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) is a semi-intensive course leading to the Cambridge ESOL (formerly known as UCLES) DELTA qualification. The twenty week course is for experienced teachers who wish to extend their theoretical and practical knowledge and teaching skills.

Continuing Professional Development: Innovative Approaches to Teaching Academic Subjects through English

(Duration: 3 – 4 weeks and tailored to groups needs)

An annual Teacher Training and Development courses to international university lecturers from different faculties for whom liaison and networking with relevant UCL academic departments is often included as a required course component.

Image: The UCL Language Centre welcomes a group of thirteen senior academic staff from  (KNU) in Almaty, one of Kazakhstan's leading universities. University staff attended an intensive two-week Teacher Development Course at UCL.
