Clinical Trials Units (CTUs)

Studies using interventional methodologies should be managed by one of the UCL clinical trials units. These are specialist units that can also help with the development and management of your study.

An interventional study is one which involves:

  • > a clinical trial of an investigational medicinal product (CTIMP)
  • > a newly developed medical device
  • > a new surgical intervention
  • > intervention using randomised methods.

If your study falls into one of these categories, you should refer to the UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology (ICTM) portal

Proposals submitted to the portal will be allocated to one of the UCL CTUs. There are four CTUs within UCL:

The CTU will work with the JRO to ensure the study is fully insured and sponsorship confirmed.
