The Postgraduate Zooarchaeology Forum (PZAF) is an established event for postgraduate students and early career researchers to present their research in a friendly arena, whilst encouraging networking amongst the wider academic community. This year, the conference will be held by UCL’s Hunters and Herders Research Network at the Institute of Archaeology from 20th-21st June, thanks to a generous grant from JFIGS.

The study of human-animal relationships demonstrates the intrinsic role of animals in cultural ideology and worldview across temporal and geographical boundaries. Zooarchaeology allows the integration of material evidence to ameliorate further our understanding of linguistic, iconographic and ethnographic evidence, and often reveals surprising insights into the lives of our ancestors. The organisers also encourage abstract submissions from other disciplines which offer new and exciting insights into human-animal relationships.

For full information, abstract submission details and deadlines, please visit pzaf2014.wordpress.com or contact Liz Farebrother (elizabeth.farebrother.13@ucl.ac.uk)
