We will examine the 'diary' of Aelius Aristides, who suffered from illness over a long period and had treatment both from the god Asclepius and from secular medics, to see the way that the divine and the secular were interwoven in his cures. Often the two were at odds, and Aelius resolved these dilemmas in favour of the god (with the right results). Please see the reading at http://tinyurl.com/jkuef.
