The first part of the session will be dealing briefly with one aspect that was omitted due to my illness a fortnight ago, namely the role of professional rivalry in prompting medical formulations of dream analysis. The rest of the session will be an overview, revisiting the major themes of how we can understand dreams and their interpretation in antiquity, and what the implications are for history as an intellectual discipline in dealing with such materials and questions as these.
