International Student Orientation Programme (ISOP) for Affiliate Students - September 2016

You are an 'affiliate student' if you are coming to UCL as a student on a Study Abroad (JYA), Erasmus, Independent Affiliate or other exchange programme.

ISOP will take place in the week commencing 19 September 2016. During this week, you will have the opportunity to complete your in-person enrolment, attend 'We Are All Global,' a full day of talks designed specifically for our new international students, (both EU and overseas), and participate in a variety of social events organised by UCL Student Union (UCLU). You will also have the opportunity to meet with your department(s) at UCL to discuss your course choices.

ISOP is a busy few days and you may decide you don't want to attend all of the social events – this is your choice and, although you are encouraged to attend, these are optional. It is however important that you attend the 'We Are All Global' sessions on Tuesday 20 September, your enrolment appointment on Wednesday 21 September, and the 'Meet Your Department' session on Thursday 22 September.

‘We Are All Global’ – Tuesday 20 September 2016

This full day of talks, organised by the International Student Support team, is designed to help make the transition into life in the UK and studying at UCL as smooth as possible. There will be a number of interactive sessions which will be scheduled throughout the whole day and you will be able to register for these nearer the time as part of the pre-enrolment process. The sessions are free of charge and it is highly recommended that you attend.

Enrolment – Wednesday 21 September 2016 (by appointment)

Enrolment for you will take place on Wednesday 21 September. You will be required to enrol by appointment and you will be able to select a slot nearer the time as part of the pre-enrolment process.

Meet Your Department – Thursday 22 September 2016

You will have the opportunity to visit your admitting department on arrival and discuss course choices with your Affiliate Tutor and/or administrator. Departments tend to organise these meetings in different ways, the session may be organised in groups or one to one slots. Your department may get in touch with you if they have made alternative arrangements for your welcome session. Please ensure that you check your emails regularly and keep an eye on your department's website for further information.

If you are taking modules in two or more departments, please attend the 'Meet your Department' session for your main admitting department. You are also encouraged to get in contact with the other department(s) where you intend to take courses. Please see our departmental contact list for further information.

Social events organised by UCL Student Union (UCLU)

ISOP social events, organised by UCLU, are the perfect opportunity to meet other new international students and immerse yourself into life at UCL. Social events are an optional part of ISOP, however we would encourage you to attend at least some of these events. A full list of events can be found on the UCLU website.
