Reminder: Online ISOP is now available!

During the week of 18 September 2017, the International Student Support team ran the International Student Orientation Programme (ISOP) to help make students' transition to life in the UK and studying with us as smooth as possible.

Important healthcare information for EU and EEA students

It is important that you familiarise yourself with the healthcare information on our website before you arrive, particularly the requirement for Comprehensive Sickness Insurance (CSI) if you are an EU/EEA or Swiss student in the UK. The UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) has issued helpful guidance highlighting what this means in further detail, along with information on the different options for demonstrating CSI.

Exam advice for students during Ramadan

This year, the Islamic holy month of Ramadan begins on the evening of Saturday 27th May and ends on the evening of Sunday 25th June. Many students will be sitting exams during this period and may require support and advice as they prepare for and sit exams whilst observing Ramadan.

Being@UCL personal development workshops - Term 3

The latest Being@UCL personal development workshops are now ready to book for Term 3.  You can find out further information about Being@UCL, or book directly onto a workshop via the Student Psychological Services website.

Compassion for Confidence will run for 5 weeks from Thursday 11th May

This workshop combines Western psychology with Buddhist meditation practices to explore what self-compassion is, why we all need it and how we can cultivate it to build our confidence.  Participants will have the opportunity to identify and work with personal barriers to self-compassion, and to learn practical tools for self-compassion.

Mindfulness for Anxiety will run for 5 weeks from Monday 15th May

If you’re experiencing stress, anxiety, attention problems or any condition involving a fast-thinking anxious mind, then this Mindfulness for Anxiety workshop could be helpful for you.  Mindfulness meditation trains us to focus on the present moment, and allows us to gain insight into the mental patterns that can cause negative emotions.  In this workshop you will learn how to improve your focus and concentration levels, and to lower bodily stress and increase relaxation.

British Council Free Online Employability Course

The British Council’s free online employability skills course, 'How to Succeed in the Global Workplace,' launches on 8 May and has opened for registration.

Ideal for international students, the course is aimed at anyone starting work, returning to work, or thinking ahead to the start of their career. It will be of particular interest to those in the early stages of their career.

Chinese Students - Career Development Workshop

The British Council is running a China Career Development Workshop, with the aim of providing Chinese students currently studying in the UK with opportunities to better understand employer needs and the job market in China, as well as to plan their career development. Work opportunities and training courses will also be published on the day of event.

National Student Money Week 6th-10th February

National Student Money Week kicks off next week and there will be an exciting range of events and activities planned throughout the week to get you thinking about money management and ways you can ‘Waste Not Want Not’ (the theme of this year’s event).

U.S. Travel Advice January 2017

Update 6 February: On 3 February 2017, a legal ruling temporarily suspended implementation of the Executive Order. However, President Trump has vowed to overturn the ruling. Exact visa and other entry conditions could therefore change at short notice.
