Every year the British Council organise pre-departure events for students coming to study in the UK. We strongly recommend that you attend these events where possible.

British Council is conducting four sessions of pre-departure briefings for students who are going to study in the UK. These briefings will help you prepare for your departure to the UK and provide practical information on visas, accommodation, banking and other aspects of living in the UK. Study UK student ambassadors (Mr Bryan Ng - University of Oxford and Ms Christy Chiu - University of Leicester) who are currently studying in the UK will also share their experiences of studying and living in the country.

British Council India is organising its annual pre-departure briefings for Indian students who have received a confirmed offer from a UK institution to begin their course in the UK in August/ September 2017.
These sessions will provide guidance and advice on important do’s and don’ts while they prepare for student life in the UK. During the session there will be an opportunity for students to meet and network with fellow students who have enrolled to study at a UK institution.
The briefing will include an interactive session with UK alumni who will share their exciting experiences in the UK as well as a session on ‘Tier 4 student visa applications and related procedures’ which will be delivered by officers from UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) at each session in each city listed below. The briefing will also include information about UK culture, food, transportation in the UK, accommodation options and more.

Want to learn more about UK student life before you leave? At this event, representatives from British Council, UKVI British Embassy, UK alumni and students currently studying in the UK will be giving advice and answering questions to help you plan your study journey and make the most of your time overseas.
The sessions will cover practical information needed to start settling in when arrive including accepting offer, visa applications, travel, accommodation, banking, safety, health and wellbeing and other aspects of living in the UK.
You will also have an opportunity to meet with other new students and there will be 20 roundtables named on city destinations in the UK.
Thus the event is only open to students who will be studying in the UK.

British Council Japan will be holding a Pre-Departure Briefing in Tokyo on 4 June 2017 for students planning to study in the UK from this year. This will be a great opportunity for you to get some advice on your final preparations before flying out to the UK.
The event will include a presentation on how to make the most of student life in the UK, a talk with alumni and a networking session for participants to get to know one another and share advice. Representatives from the UK Visas and Immigration section of the British Embassy will also be participating to provide information on visa applications.

UCL Taiwanese Alumni Association (UCLTAA) has organised a "pre-departure welcoming tea" for new Taiwanese students. The event will take place on 21 May 2017, there will be alumni sharing their experiences about their lives in London and UCL, and it is a good opportunity to make new friends who will also be coming to London. British Council Thailand have organised a pre-departure briefing which will take place on 10 June 2017 and will include the following areas:
