Pre-departure briefings


Each year the British Council organise pre-departure events for students coming to  study in the  UK. We strongly recommend that you attend these events where possible.

Brunei

British Council Brunei is holding its annual pre-departure briefing (PDB) for offer holders on Friday 22 August

The briefing will include a 'Visa Briefing' by British High Commission (BHC) / VFS, followed by an interactive session on 'Studying & Living in the UK' with UK alumni.

The briefing will take place on Friday 22 August between 9.00AM - 11.30AM.


Attendance is FREE but offer holders must pre-book their seat. Walk-ins are highly discouraged and may not be allocated entry.

Hong Kong

Pre-departure briefings will include information on visas, travel, accommodation, insurance, banking and other aspects of living and studying in the UK. Education UK student ambassadors will share their first-hand experience of what the UK has to offer for international students.

India

British Council India is organising pre-departure briefings for Indian students who have received a confirmed offer from a UK institution for the September 2014 intake.   India flag

The briefing sessions will provide an insight on student life in the UK and will entail an interactive session with UK alumni, a session by officers from UK Visas and Immigration and a talk on student life in the UK. This is an opportunity for students to talk to UK alumni and share their experiences, gather information about visas and immigration and network with students like them who have enrolled to study in the UK and maybe the same institution as them.

Thailand

British Council Thailand is holding a pre-departure briefing for UK institution offer holders on Saturday, 24th May 2014 at the Swissôtel Nai Lert Park Hotel Bangkok (BTS Pleonchit).

The briefing will provide participants with essential information on studying and living in the UK, the UK visa application, and travel and financial information. There will be a session where alumni will come to share their experience of studying and living in the UK. Admission to the event is free of charge.

Vietnam

Vietnam

The British Council Vietnam has organised a pre-departure briefing for Vietnamese students who are leaving for the UK in the autumn 2014 and prospective students who would like to have an opportunity to meet and chat with UK Alumni.


At the briefings, students have the chance to meet with Vietnamese students who are about to return to study in the UK, following the summer break, as well as those who have graduated from UK institutions. They can share experiences and answer questions relating to study methods as well as daily life and their time as international students in the UK.

The event is open for UK institutions’ offer holders and prospective students free of charge and details are as below:

  • Hochiminh city: 13:30 – 17:30, Saturday 26 July 2014, at Novotel Hotel, 167 Hai Ba Trung, District 3
  • Hanoi: 13:30 – 17:30, Saturday 2 August 2014, at Somerset Grand, Hanoi Tower, 49 Hai Ba Trung, Hoan Kiem District.
