ISRS Research Manager
Mandeep joined ISRS as Research Manager in September 2011. She works closely with the Director in developing ISRS’ six Research and Innovation Challenges. She is also responsible for business engagement and ISRS events programme.
Mandeep has a multi-disciplinary background. After completing a first degree in Law, followed by a Master’s in Banking & Finance Law, Mandeep began her career in investment banking. She joined Lehman Brothers in 2006 from Morgan Stanley where she was a member of the equities compliance team. Having moved to the legal team whilst at Lehman Brothers, she spent a number of years negotiating financial contracts with multi-national clients. This developed her expertise in financial markets; regulation and relationship building with diverse stakeholders. Following the untimely demise of Lehman’s she returned to work for Lehman Brothers (in administration), helping to unwind complex financial positions and negotiate legal settlements. Experience gained in the financial sector has enabled Mandeep to focus on a number of research areas at ISRS, including the resilience of the energy system; financial stability and systemic risks and social resilience posed by Offshore Financial Centres.
Mandeep also holds a Master’s in International Relations from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), having broadened her expertise in international affairs, diplomacy and geo-strategy. This theoretical foundation has enabled Mandeep to support the ISRS’ work on Net Assessment of Strategies (NAS), which involves assessing the economic, social and political factors fit for a multipolar world.
