Using the UCL Directory (LDAP)

The UCL directory contains entries for UCL staff and students who either have a phone number, an Information Systems email address or an email address from a department which has made its email addresses available.

There are two ways to search for an individual using the UCL directory.

Search via the Directory option

  1. Click on the Directory option at the top of the SquirrelMail screen. The search window will appear.
  2. Choose your criteria (whether you want to search by surname or mail address)
  3. Type the name of the person you want to find next to t he Contains box.
  4. Click on the Search button.

The results of your search will appear below your search criteria.

Note: There is a Save button next to each entry in your results list. This button does not work and will not be added to your Personal Address Book.

Search via the Compose option

  1. Click on the Compose option at the top of the SquirrelMail screen.
  2. Click on the Addresses button. You will see your Personal Address Book entries (if you have added any).
  3. In the Search for box, type in the name of the individual whose details you want to find.
  4. You can choose to search in All address books (this includes your Personal Address Book and LDAP - the UCL directory) or just either your Personal Address Book or LDAP.
