Troubleshooting and help
If you have followed the instructions for your particular email program and are still unable to get the secure settings to work correctly, please double check the following:
Check the port number
If you are an IMAP user you must make sure that you have entered the correct port number in your email program:
For receiving mail: You should use port number 993.
If you a POP user you must make sure that you have entered the correct port number in your email program:
For receiving mail: You should use port number 995.
Check your firewall
Some routers have a built-in firewall (BT-Voyager being a
known one), which only lets through a few ports. You will need to check
the settings for your router (or contact your ISP for assistance) to
see if it possible to allow ports 993 or 995.
Another alternative is to turn off the firewall for your router, but before doing so you must ensure that you have an alternative such as F-Secure installed on your PC for continued protection.
