Using secure settings to receive email
|
If you only ever use SquirrelMail to read your UCL email then you do not need to read any further. SquirrelMail does not require any changes. However, if you use other email programs on your own computer, please read on. |
Why should I use secure settings?
Insecure
settings can mean that your password is sent across the network in
plain text. This means that your password could be intercepted, especially if you are connecting from outside UCL,
and your account could then be used by someone else.
You should therefore change the settings (as described on these web pages) in your email program so that you can receive email securely.
