Is there a limit to the number of recipients I can send emails to in a day?
There is a restriction on the number of messages that can be sent:
- Outside of UCL - restriction is 1,000 recipients
- Inside of UCL - no restriction
If you send a message from your UCL account (outside of UCL) to a distribution of over 1,000 recipients, you will receive the following error:

What are the alternatives?
1. Send the emails from within UCL via the smtp-server.ucl.ac.uk. There are no limits on outgoing emails from a machine on the UCL network.
2. Set up a Mailman mailing list. This is a more
efficient way of sending out a large number of emails.
