Accessing A Shared Mailbox in Outlook 2010

- Goto the File Menu > Account Settings
- Highlight the live@UCL account and click the change button
- Goto More Settings > Advanced Tab
- Click on Add and type the shared mailbox into the dialogue box e.g. dept name.shared mailbox i.e. Laws.Admin1. To find all shared mailboxes for your department, type in your department name and click enter. This will list all of your departments shared mailboxes. Select one from the list. NB : Outlook will allow you to add the shared mailbox but access is only given if you have the correct permissions.
- Click on Apply and OK
- Click on Next and Finish
When sending from a shared mailbox you will need to populate the From Field using the shared mailbox naming convention as displayed in the GAL;
So if you have a mailbox with the prefix EFD then typing the prefix alone and pressing OK will bring you a list of all shared mailboxes with that departmental prefix.
