Attachments: where they are stored/how to remove them from messages.

What happens to the attachment when I delete a message with one?

Can I delete just the attachments and not the message?

If I save an attachment, does it automatically delete it from the server?

Unfortunately there is no general answer to these questions. It really depends on the settings in your email application which can differ from one person to another.

Eudora for example, gives you the option of saving all of your attachments in a separate folder. Therefore when you delete a message, the attachment remains - taking up space on your central filestore quota.

With other email programs (generally speaking) if you were to delete a message with an attachment, the attachment would be removed also - unless you manually save it elsewhere.
