Introduction
Steps
WSUS for ADS Managed Computers
Introduction
If you are using your home computer to access the ADS remote access service you will need to register your home computer with the ADS Windows Software Update Service (WSUS) as outlined in the ADS Remote Access Terms and Conditions.
Note: The ADS remote access and home WSUS service is currently only supported for computers using Microsoft Windows XP.
Steps
On your home computer:
1. Create a folder called "WSUSTemp" on the C: drive of
your computer
2. Download WSUS
files and save it to the folder which you created in step 1
3. Go to the folder created in step 1 and unzip the Wsusclient.zip
folder
4. Go to Start and select Run
and type cmd and click on OK.
5. At the command prompt type CD C:\WSUSTemp and
press enter
6. Type Wsus_set.cmd and press enter. This will
run a very short command on your home computer.
7. Once the command has finished running (this should only take
a couple of seconds) - go to folder called Windows on
your C: drive. Copy the WindowsUpdate.log
file and send it to the ADS helpdesk via email.
This will enable the ADS helpdesk to check that your
home computer is correctly registered with the ADS Windows Update
Service.
